Promises in life are like keeping someone's secrets until the day we pass on. They are commitments we made to those close to us in all circumstances. If a promise is broken due to changes in life, it becomes what we commonly called a "broken promise". If we break a promise, we lose the trust other place in us.
We are not much better than "scammers". We scammed the trusts and hope from someone's life. Indirectly, we are causing the people to lose trusts in others. "Once bitten, twice shy". So, what kind of person do you want to be?
My Journey:
In my younger days, I trusted the people around me wholeheartedly because I believed they were good people. In my 30s, I was betrayed by someone I loved and a close friend. I was devastated and gradually stopped trusting others. Everyone I met after that are just acquaintances; I never formed new friendships.
So how did I learn to trust again? I met someone who loved me "unconditionally". That love broke through my walls and had me crying for hours. That unconditional 'love' slowly changed my heart and led me to believe in people again.
